Do Justice, Love Kindness, Walk Humbly - Fall

To the Members and Friends of the First Congregational Church of Wilmot, UCC,

In September we continued our annual tradition of introducing a new theme for worship and a banner representing it.  Micah 6:8 asks, “what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, love kindness and to walk humbly with your God?”  In our world today this call and these values seem ever more important.  There is no doubt that 2020 has been an unusual year with many changes happening in all of our lives.  And there was no doubt that the challenges we faced as a community of faith were daunting.  Yet we were fortunate that worship via Zoom brought us together and maintained our community’s spirit in this difficult time.  We thank all who have made this possible.

But we are not done.  Throughout the upcoming year we will continue to engage with the Spirit who calls us to do justice through our Racial Justice Initiative.  We will continue to listen to that teacher of wisdom who calls us to love kindness through our New Horizons and missions activities.  And we will do our best to walk humbly with our God through thought provoking worship and heartfelt prayer.

This is the time of year when we turn our attention to how we want to support this, our place of worship, with our time, talents and treasure.  Together we have the opportunity to consider the ways we will continue, and expand, our ministries of thoughtful engagement and compassionate outreach.  The Budget Committee is charged with constructing the operating budget for 2021.  This budget provides for the upkeep and maintenance of the church building, for all of our varied ministries, and for the support of our staff.  Our pledges give the members of the Budget Committee the knowledge they need to prepare a thoughtful budget that allows our church to thrive as a strong and vibrant center in our community.

Stewardship Sunday is November 22nd.  Enclosed is a pledge form and a return envelope.  We ask that you give prayerful consideration in the coming weeks to your personal stewardship of the gifts that you have been given.  And then we invite you to return your pledge as soon as possible so that the Budget Committee can begin its work.  A commitment in support of our church is a resounding ‘yes!’ to engaging in God’s call to do justice, love kindness and walk humbly, and we thank you!

With the blessing of God’s love,

The Stewardship Committee- Robin Albing, Susan Bruce, Margaret Campbell
